About Laurel Stone Farm
Laurel Stone Farm was established in 1985 and has been home to three generations since it was founded. We have approximately 200 acres of farm land on which we raise cattle, goats, free-range chickens and grow a variety of fruits and vegetables. The farm is located in the Laurel Grove community in Sutherlin Virginia. The name Laurel Stone Farm comes from the beautiful mountain laurels that grow throughout our community, as well as the large boulders coming out of the ground from an inactive fault line.
Our Farming Methods
Here at Laurel Stone Farm we take a natural approach to farming. We feed and build the soil with chemical-free compost, minerals and fertilizers. We feel that the health of the soil is the most important factor in growing quality, nutritious, life-giving vegetables. We use only natural biological methods for growing our vegetables and are committed to providing quality produce that is usually harvested the day we sell it. We want people to know where their food comes from as well as the farmers who grow it.
Our Free-Range Chickens
We also raise free-range chickens and will be selling eggs $3.00 per dozen. The eggs are very different from the typical grocery store egg and you'll see this as soon as you crack one open. The yolk is a rich golden color instead of the watery pale yellow yolk you would see from a grocery store egg. Eggs are high in protein and also contain iron, nutrients, vitamins and carotenoids. You can enjoy these nutrient-rich eggs over freshly picked spinach sprinkled with carrots and radishes also from our farm.
